BAGLEY, Ala. (AP) - Jefferson County officials say a 22-year-old man who died after diving from a cliff has been identified as Rayford Chet Downey of Adamsville.
Authorities say Downey's body was pulled from a swimming hole in the Locust Fork of the Warrior River near Bagley just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, four hours after he disappeared into the water.
Downey was part of a group of about eight who went swimming off
River Road near Gobbler's Knob Road. As they were jumping from a
cliff, Downey broke a limb from a tree, hit a rock wall and went under the water. His friends attempted to find him, but could not.
