An Alabama soldier is among those killed Saturday when a humvee exploded in southern Afghanistan.
25-year-old Private First Class, Andrew Hand, was on the ground in Afghanistan not because he had to be there, but because he wanted to be there.
He was offered a desk job but stayed in the field-- searching for improvised explosive devices.
Hand was leading his unit on a mission when an IED caught them off guard exploding killing Hand and three other soldiers.
Hand grew up in Brookwood and Enterprise and was most recently living in the Dothan area with his wife and two children.
