CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - A Pinson man faces being a vehicular homicide charge after a wreck that killed one person and critically injured a pregnant woman and a child.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian said the man, whose name has not been released, is being held in the Jefferson County jail and likely will be formally charged Monday.
Authorities say the man was speeding when he rear-ended another vehicle in Center Point - just north of Birmingham - Saturday morning.
Authorities say the driver of the car that was hit died on impact.
The woman who was 8 months pregnant was airlifted to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to deliver the baby and remains in critical condition.
Two children in the car were taken to the hospital, one in critical condition and another in stable condition.
No names have been released.
