Riley Awards Grants to Improve Public Safety in Alabama

MONTGOMERY— Gov. Bob Riley has awarded $2.4 million in grants to 104 law enforcement agencies to improve public safety in cities and counties throughout Alabama.

The grants awarded to police departments and sheriffs’ departments are the latest round of funding for law enforcement agencies announced by the governor. Law enforcement agencies across the state have applied for funding to update equipment.

“The officers we depend on for protection must have adequate equipment to perform their jobs,” Riley said. “These grants will give law enforcement agencies in Alabama access to up-to-date equipment and techniques to fight crime and protect citizens.”
