Sheriffs throughout Alabama are in Eufala today learning about the latest technologies to strengthen homeland security.
The Alabama Sheriffs Association is working with the Department of Homeland Security to get grants for technology needed in the field.
The limited range of two-way radios posed problems for many deputies, they're looking at towers and receptors as a possible alternative.
"I think the biggest issues sheriffs face are resources and time. Financial resources, equipment resources, people resources and the time to do all the things they need to do," says Jim Walker, Director of Alabama Homeland Security.
The 2010 summer training conference ends Wednesday.
