HAMILTON CROSSROADS, Ala. (AP) - The state fire marshal says arson is the cause of the huge fire that destroyed the Carter Brothers Manufacturing plant in Pike County, with the loss estimated at $16 million or more.
State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said the investigation is continuing to determine the person or persons responsible for setting the fire, which destroyed a 160,000-square-foot warehouse.
Steve Holmes, a spokesman for the fire marshal, said there were no further developments Tuesday.
The Carter Brothers plant at Hamilton Crossroads manufactures go-carts and off-road buggies. Nineteen fire and police departments in the region responded to the July 12 blaze.
