His mother says Josh began to stuggle as he swam.

Co-workers tried to help, but when Wynn went under, he never resurfaced.

Family members are devastated.

Junior "Uncle JuJu" Kelly, Josh's Uncle, said, "One of the deepest losses I could ever feel, and when I found out it was a pond and he had been gone for an hour, I knew deep in my heart but I wouldn't let it, I couldn't tell myself he was gone until I saw him."

An autopsy is being performed in Montgomery to determine the cause of death.

We'll hear more from the family tonight on News 4 at 6.

A family is grieving tonight after losing the life of a teenager in a small pond just north of Samson.

Authorities are withholding the name of the victim for now.

Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward says three people were putting up fences earlier today and were colling off at the edge of a small pond when the victim went in.

He says all three could swim but the others were unable to get to him in time.

First responders were able to recover the body around 5 p.m. about 8-10 feet away from where he went in.

"He was actually walking around the edge cooling off a little bit and was actually coming out because they'd finished with that part and apparently he stepped off a little bit too far and like i said went under. they kept trying to get to him but they couldn't get to him," says Ward.

An autopsy will be performed in Montgomery to determine if he in fact died from the drowning or other causes.
