Police Chief Leaving Fairfield AL for Tuskegee

FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Fairfield Police Chief Pat Mardis is leaving next month after 22 years in the department and five years of chief to head the police department at Tuskegee University.

Mardis will take over at Tuskegee on Aug. 16.

In 2007, the Alabama Legislature elevated the Tuskegee campus security force to a full-time police department with arrest powers.

The department has 33 full time employees and some part-time
