MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The Mobile Bay Ferry service is temporarily suspended for repairs.
The Alabama Department of Transportation, which usually runs two ferries across the mouth of Mobile Bay, says the closure is not related to the oil spill.
A spokeswoman says the vessel, the Marissa Mae Nicole, needs a new hydraulic pump.
Authorities say the ferry service's other vessel, the Fort Morgan, has been out of service for several months for ongoing repairs.
It is unclear when service will resume.
