A charitable foundation now has a place to call their own.
After three-and-a-half years of sharing space, employees with the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation have their own building.
The once vacant building on Fairview Avenue was renovated with the help of sponsors.
Those with the foundation say the new space will help with future events.
“It is a very exciting day for us. We were working out of doctors space in the doctors building at the Medical Center and so now we're going to be a lot more convenient to our donors, for the community, and we'll be able to stage a lot of our events right from this area,” said Valerie Barnes, executive director of the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation.
Each year the non-profit foundation helps purchase equipment for the medical center as well as caring for those who are unable to pay for their medical care and services.
