The Evermore CID is celebrating the completion of their $33 million U.S. Highway 78 median project. The road was expanded to six lanes, sidewalks and crosswalks were added.
FLORALA, Ala. (AP) - The Florala City Council says it will send back nearly $80,000 in federal Department of Transportation funds after the citys sidewalk project came in under budget.
Mayor Robert Williamson said the city was awarded $317,000 for the third phase of its four-phase sidewalk project. The lowest bid for the project came in at $240,000.
Williamson says the money cant be used for any other project, and the city cant add decorative items. He says the best thing to do is send it back and hope that it creates a favorable impression.
Williamson says DOT officials have told them they will shift redistribute the money to other projects.
