Traffic was at a stand still along Westgate Parkway on Friday, due to construction.
The construction is part of the Economic Recovery Stimulus Project, which will cost around $1.4 million.
The Alabama Department of Transportation is working on Westgate Parkway from 231-North down to Hartford Highway.
The project is expected to last 60 days, but officials are hopeful it will end sooner.
“There have been times when we've been without power, they cut our water off, our cable line has been cut,” says Jennifer Zimmerman, who lives along Westgate Parkway.
Officials want to emphasize, the Westgate construction is separate from the work on Fortner Street.
