ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a Limestone County man fatally shot another man and then shot himself after wrecking his truck.
Emergency personnel responding to a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Sunday found 23-year-old Clinton Roberts dead from multiple 12-gauge shotgun wounds.
Authorities say that the alleged shooter fled in his truck after the shooting. He ran off the road and traveled about 100 feet before hitting a utility pole. Authorities say he was unable to back the truck out and fatally shot himself.
The name of the 23-year-old alleged shooter was being withheld until family could be notified.
Authorities say the shooting happened after a dispute over child custody between Roberts and his ex-wife.
A female witness to the shooting was not harmed and was taken into protective custody for questioning.
