Birmingham police make arrest in cold case

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police have made an arrest in the 11-year-old case of a man shot to death in the Ensley Highlands.

Authorities have charged 38-year-old Marlo Rogers, of Birmingham, with murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Damon Montrez Collier.

Authorities say the father of two was shot in the head in the 1600 block of 35th Street Ensley on Nov. 4, 1999. He had worked with a trucking company and was visiting Birmingham when he was shot.

Cold case detective Roy Bristow says he and Det. Jody Jacobs began a renewed investigation in February and police were able to find new witnesses.

Bristow believes the shooting was over a woman.
