Vacationers looking for water sports who didn't want to go to the beach, made a splash in Lake Eufaula this holiday weekend.
Lakepoint Resort State Park was sold out of all their rooms and camping sites.
Rough waters kept many boaters ashore, but for those who did brave the waters boating safety was a main priority.
"[People should] make sure to let someone know where they're going, where they're going to launch from, and what time they're going to be back," says Alabama Marine Police Officer, Tommy Haynes.
Marine police say they have not had any incidents on the lake this year and they intend to keep it that way.
