MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a
9-year-old boy who was hit by a sports utility vehicle as he tried
to run across Dauphin Island Parkway.
Police responded to the incident at about 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Mobile police spokesman Ron Wallace says the boy was taken to USA
Women's and Children's where he was pronounced dead at 8:28 p.m.
A 59-year-old male drove the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. Wallace
says preliminary investigations show that alcohol, drugs and speed
were not factors in the incident.
Wallace says coroners have not determined the boy's cause of
