Local Republicans Narrow the field on candidates to run for State House Seat #86

Local Republican officials will tonight narrow the field of who they want to replace Benjamin Lewis on the ballot for Alabama House District #86 on the November ballot.

That slot opened up when Governor Bob Riley named Lewis to fill a district court judgeship.

The Houston County Republican Executive Committee will meet with six men tonight:
Dothan City Commissioner, Paul Lee
Houston County Commissioner Bobby Snellgrove
Dothan Planning Commission chairman, Chuck Harris
Tony Taylor from Ashford
Corporate pilot John Martin
And retiree Frank Johnson.

Each man will be given 5 minutes to address the group and may need to answer questions.

The local executive committee will send three names to the state executive committee which will choose who will face Democrat Merritt Carrothers on the ballot in November.
