The city of Ashford has something to cheer about today.
The State Industrial Access Authority awarded the city a grant to repair roads.
State Senator Harri Anne Smith was on hand to present a check for a little more than a half-million dollars.
The funds will be used to upgrade existing roads in front of the Ashford Industrial Park.
This project has been in the works for more than 5 years.
"We've always been working on getting industries to the east side but, we are moving in the right direction,” says Houston County Commissioner Bobby Snellgrove.
