OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Local law enforcement and the Lee County coroner say they are still investigating a highway accident that killed a Beauregard woman.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris says authorities received a call early Sunday about a possible pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Alabama Highway 51 south of Opelika.
Investigators say they found 41-year-old Terrie Reaves lying in the roadway, and Harris pronounced her dead.
Harris says there are reports indicating Reaves may have jumped from a moving vehicle, and that another vehicle traveling in the same direction struck Reaves as she lay in the roadway.
Harris said both drivers were interviewed by sheriff's investigators at the scene.
