Oil seen coming ashore on Baldwin County beaches

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) - Gulf Shore officials who flew over the
Gulf say oil has come ashore at least three places in Baldwin County.

The Associated Press Beach walkers pass tar balls that line a long stretch of sand in Pensacola Beach, Fla., on Thursday. Pensacola Beach officials have closed the public beaches to swimmers. Oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster continues to wash ashore along the Alabama and Florida coasts. A cap was back in place on BP’s broken oil well in the Gulf of Mexico after a deep-sea blunder forced crews to temporarily remove it.

The Press-Register reported that the officials spotted heavy bands of orange streamers coming ashore on Romar Beach. Oil was also spotted coming ashore at the Perdido Beach Resort and between
Lagoon Pass and The Hangout.

Heavy bands of oil could be spotted near the Phoenix West condominiums near Perdido Pass.
