Woodville man sentenced for fatal car wreck

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a Woodville man to
42 years in state prison Tuesday for killing a 26-year-old Woodville man and injuring a woman in an incident last July.

Twenty-nine-year-old Michael Phelps pleaded guilty to murder and domestic violence assault first degree in May.

Phelps was accused of running over Jerry L. Swafford and Annette
Carter with a vehicle at a residence off County Road 8 in Woodville.

Robin Dean, Swafford's mother, described her son, known as "Bubba," as a gentle giant.
