Alabama, Microsoft offer free tech training

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The state government and Microsoft are offering 15,000 vouchers for free online technology training and certification.

State two-year college Chancellor Freida Hill says computer literacy is a basic job requirement in today's world. The vouchers are part of the Elevate American program, and they are available at state career centers on a first-come, first-served basis.

They can be redeemed for free online training on one of the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite or on Microsoft Windows Vista.
