HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Albertville police have charged a man with murder after they say he confessed to killing a woman whose body was found in a wooded area Saturday.
Police charged Ray Christopher Shockley. He had been considered a person of interest in the investigation into the death of a woman believed to be Tonya Michelle Turnmine. Police say they found her body in a wooded area of Etowah County on Saturday night.
They believe she was killed June 4.
The body is in Huntsville at the Alabama Department of Forensic Science Lab for positive identification.
The Madison County district attorney's office was among the agencies that aided in the investigation.
Shockley's bail was set at $1 million. There was no phone listing for Shockley Monday.
