Houston County Commissioners give a green light to a new landfill.

The landfill is non-hazardous and will be used only for construction and demolition debris.

Northwest Engineering will open the landfill in Kinsey, off of Kinsey Rd.

Only waste like concrete, bricks, tree limbs, and wood will be accepted.

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management will monitor the landfill to ensure all regulations are fulfilled.

"They'll have a closer place to take construction debris at a cheaper price than taking it to the City of Dothan,” says Mark Pool, Houston County Engineer.

The next step for Northwest Engineering is to receive a permit approval from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
