Local residents gathered in downtown Dothan Monday morning to pay tribute to those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.
Current and former members of the military along with local leaders gathered at Veteran's Memorial Park on East Main Street at 10 a.m.
The ceremony commemorated the service and sacrifice of millions of soldiers who have served in the armed forces since the Revolutionary War.
Organizers say it's important for us to remember it's not just a day "off from work".
“It's always great to see the people remembering the veterans, especially on Memorial and also on Veteran’s Day. We owe a lot to the veterans be it to the fact that we are still a free country, even though we have problems, we're still are a free country, and remember always, freedom isn't free,” said Ed Pritchard, the Wiregrass Veterans Alliance Coordinator
Monday morning's ceremony was sponsored by the Wiregrass Veterans Alliance.
