Students at Girard Middle School will have something to cheer about Monday morning.
Volunteers from around the city came to the middle school to make some much needed upgrades to their library.
Girard Middle School recently received a grant from Lowes Home Improvement for $60,000.
The grant will pay for a new ceiling, carpet, bookshelves, and new furniture.
The military men and women from Fort Rucker helped demolish the old library.
"Sometimes they don't always get the funding they need, but fortunately this school received a grant and we're able to give back on the demolition part so they can use that grant to the fullest to renovate the school," said Captain John Reid, Fort Rucker.
The library hasn't had any major upgrades since 1958.
Girard's remodeled library is scheduled to open next fall.
