HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A suspected Chicago gang member featured
on "America's Most Wanted" was arrested in Huntsville Thursday
after authorities say he tried to run from them.
Huntsville police and U.S. Marshals pulled over 22-year-old
Gilberto Angel Vargas around 2:30 p.m. after receiving a tip that
Vargas might be in the area.
The Fox show featured Vargas on Feb. 20. The show reported he
was being sought after a man was shot to death on June 20, 2009 in
what authorities thought was a gang-related incident.
Huntsville police Sgt. Mark Roberts says U.S. Marshals had him
under surveillance for days after receiving the tip and determined
he was trying to leave town in the U-Haul just before they pulled
Vargas has been taken into federal custody.
