PELHAM, Ala. (AP) - An 84-year-old Pelham man is being held in
the Shelby County jail on a murder charge, and an attorney says the
victim was his 77-year-old wife.
The Birmingham News reports that court records show William
Virgil Proctor had filed for divorce from his wife, Gwendolyn
Elizabeth Guggle Proctor, in January.
Police in Pelham say the victim was found dead in her home on
Ferris Ritchey III, the woman's attorney, says Gwendolyn Proctor
was the victim.
Documents show a Shelby County judge had ordered the couple to
appear later this week at a mediation and settlement conference.
William Proctor is being held on $75,000 bond.
