AL Doctors Graduates After 50 years of Practice

MACON, Ga. (AP) - A 72-year-old retired physician from Macon stayed very busy at the graduation ceremony for Mercer University.

Drayton Sanders was the graduation speaker Saturday and picked up the diploma for his bachelor's degree.

Sanders was captain of the Mercer baseball team in 1958 when he got accepted into the Medical College of Georgia before finishing his bachelor's degree. He had two courses he had taken at another college during his freshman year that didn't count toward graduation.

Sanders says he always likes to finish what he starts, so he went back to Mercer after 50 years and took two courses that stood between him and graduation.
