FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama State Troopers say their aviation unit and critical response team, operating from a helicopter, helped rescue two hikers who were stranded on a rock in Little River Canyon.

Troopers say the unit assisted Fischer Rescue in the rescue of 23-year-old Paul Hoffman and 21-year-old Kevin Hoffman on Thursday. They say the brothers, from Scottsboro, were hiking when one fell into the river and both wouund up being trapped.

Troopers say Paul Hoffman was safely airlifted from the canyon with minor injuries, and Kevin Hoffman and the brothers' dog were removed uninjured.

Troopers say they used a Department of Public Safety's Bell 407 helicopter in the rescue.
