Beginning Thursday, May 6, the U.S. Coast Guard will begin utilizing the Panama City Marina as a staging area for continued efforts to prepare for potential effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
To supplement the Coast Guard’s efforts, the Bay County Emergency Operations Center has mobilized to Level 1 activation, effective at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 6.
The EOC will serve as an operations center to assist the Coast Guard with the planning and logistics of the effort.
Owners of boats docked at the Panama City Marina will have access to and use of their vessels, though the public boat ramp will be closed for the duration of staging operations.
Bay District Schools graduation ceremonies scheduled for the Marina Civic Center will not be interrupted, though parking at the facility may be limited.
