Officials from around the Wiregrass, along with the mayor of Level Plains celebrated the town's 45th anniversary, with the unveiling of a plaque.
The town was incorporated in April of 1965.
Level Plains began with only 133 residents and has grown to more than 1500.
“I think it is very important to us as a town. We are a small town, we have limited resources, we do the best we can but we're proud people,” said Level Plains Mayor Tyris Waters.
Six other towns and cities around the Wiregrass will be celebrating their areas Saturday.
