SULLIGENT, Ala. (AP) - Flash floods have been reported in parts of northern Alabama, leading to road closures as severe weather moves through the state.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said flash flooding occurred in Lamar and Marion counties on Saturday evening.
Meteorologist Chelly Amin said a storm that caused deaths in Mississippi dissipated before reaching Alabama but several other storm systems were heading into the state and Cullman County remained under a tornado watch.
A tornado was spotted earlier in the day in Sumter County but no deaths or injuries were reported.
Meteorologist Mark Linhares said the apparent tornado caused heavy damage to several homes and trees near Livingston.
