Alabama sex offender charged with abusing teen

DALEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Dale County sheriff's investigators say a
registered sex offender grabbed and sexually abused a teenage girl
after she went to him to urge him to tie up his dog.

Dale County Chief Sheriff's Investigator Harvey Mathis says
45-year-old Michael Ray Clements of Daleville is charged with two
counts of sexual abuse.

Mathis says a girl under the age of 16 had gone to warn Clements
to tie up his dog because she had seen a dead dog nearby.

Mathis says Clements grabbed the girl and sexually abused her,
and that the girl broke loose and returned to her family's
residence.

Mathis says Clements was later arrested without incident.
