Business group endorses Johnston for Alabama court

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A coalition of business and agricultural groups called the Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee has endorsed Birmingham attorney Eric Johnston for Place 3 on the Alabama Supreme Court.

Johnston faces incumbent Tom Parker and James Houts in the Republican primary on June 1.

Committee Chairman Tom Dart called Johnston a strong conservative.

The Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee previously endorsed Republican Justice Mike Bolin for re-election to Place 2 and Republican Criminal Appeals Court Judge Kelli Wise for Place 1 on the Supreme Court.
