TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A woman killed 28 years ago in east Alabama finally got a memorial service.
On Friday, family, friends, investigators and local citizens gathered at the grave of Cynthia Louise Hanes in Talladega County's Pine Hill Cemetery.
No one knew until about a month ago that it was Hanes who was buried in the grave in 1982.
But investigators finally matched up fingerprints from the woman who disappeared in 1982 after getting into a black van in Maryland.
Then a memorial was finally scheduled.
Her brother from Prucellville, Va., Robert Hanes, said it was comforting to hear Talladega County investigators explain how they finally identified his sister.
Her killer has not been apprehended.
