BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Gadsden man is charged with rape for a
1996 attack in Gadsden.
The Alabama attorney general's office Friday announced the
arrest of 42-year-old Geoffrey Todd Mack, of Gadsden. Gadsden was
detained by the Birmingham Police Department Wednesday night.
He's charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and
The Attorney General's Cold Case Unit developed evidence that
identified Mack as a suspect in the crime that happened 14 years
ago. The Attorney General's Office would not disclose further
information about the evidence or about Mack's alleged crimes.
Authorities say modern technology allowed them to reopen the
case and develop new evidence that led to the arrest.
