A single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning claimed the life of a Hartford man and injured his four year old daughter.
Raymond Stewart McGowan 49, of Hartford, was traveling north on Alabama Highway 123 with his daughter when his vehicle left the roadway and over-turned.
The initial investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when McGowan’s vehicle left the road and overturned.
McGowan attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway when he over-corrected and lost control.
McGowan and his daughter, who were unrestrained, were ejected when the vehicle rolled-over once and came to rest on its top.
McGowan was pronounced dead at the scene by Geneva County Coroner Max Motley.
His daughter was transported to Flowers hospital by Hartford Rescue where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at 4:10 a.m. about 1.5 miles north of Hartford at Pollard Bridge in Geneva County.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
