MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Leaders of the Alabama New South
Coalition are having a news conference to discuss the difficulty
facing the predominantly black political group as it tries to make
an endorsement in the Democratic race for governor.

State Sen. Hank Sanders of Selma and other New South leaders
have scheduled the news conference Wednesday morning in Montgomery.

Sanders says the group faces a difficult choice when it meets
Saturday in Montgomery to make endorsements because U.S. Rep. Artur Davis is trying to become Alabama's first black governor but his
white opponent, state Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, has run
a strong campaign.
