People all over the tri-states area are heading to Florida to play the lottery.

There are two big jackpots up for grabs and the drawings are Saturday night.

The combined jackpots of both lotteries currently stand at almost $200 million.

As the money continues to increase, so does the number of people looking to hit it big!

Business is booming at Discount Lotto Liquor on Highway 231 south in Jackson County, Florida. It's less than a half mile from the Alabama state line.

“As the jackpots grow and roll over...it generates additional traffic. Most all the border locations do well,”

Greg Ross owns the store. He says people get pumped as the money mounts.

“When they start hearing $150 million and $46 million, it generates a little more excitement about playing,”

“I buy more every time it goes up and I think everyone else does too,” said Bennie Meekins of Campbellton, Florida.

“We see 'em from everywhere, here from 231 we see a lot of transit traffic ya know people going to be the beach this time of year,” added Ross.

Powerball is a lottery played in 41 states, including Florida and Georgia. Right now, the jackpot stands at $150 million.

“150 million? Man, that'd be great,” said a trucker passing through.

“Dollar signs,” said James Tidwell of Dothan.
“That's a lot dollar signs right there,”

“There's not been a winner in eight weeks and it draws two times a week so in 16 drawings there's not been a winner,” said Ross.

But Powerball isn't the only popular lottery to play.

“The Florida Lottery is a separate game and there's not been a winner there in nine weeks which would be 18 drawings,”

That jackpot sits at $46 million.

Ross says many people believe luck, just might be on their side.

“Well I guess they're just saying I can go spend a dollar or two and I got a slim chance the odds are not real good...but why not spending a dollar or two to win $150 million,”

Ross says he expects a lot more traffic Friday night as people get off work and head home.

He also said Saturday will be real busy as well as people try to get those last minute tickets before Saturday night's drawing.

The drawing will take place Saturday night at 10 p.m. central time.
