MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Legislature is moving quickly to wrap up work on the state budgets.
The Senate Finance and Taxation-General Fund Committee approved the General Fund budget on Wednesday exactly like it passed the House.
Committee Chairman Roger Bedford says the budget will be
considered by the Senate on Tuesday.
The Senate is planning to work on the state Education budget Thursday.
The chairman of the Finance and Taxation-Education Committee, Hank Sanders, says he's hopeful the Senate will approve a budget that closely resembles the one passed by the House.
That puts the Legislature on a pace to finish work on the state budgets before the last day of the legislative session on April 22.
