TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - University of Alabama officials will ask
trustees this week for permission to demolish eight campus
buildings used to house graduate students.
David Jones, director of housing and residential communities at
the university, says residents of the apartments were notiifed
Tuesday that the buildings probably will be knocked down this
Jones says renovating the old buildings would cost more money
than demand justifies.
Officials say a newly formed graduate student parent support
group, along with staff from the university's Housing and
Residential Communities will help graduate students find off-campus
