HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say a woman struck and
killed by a train near a high school Monday was a 51-year-old
preparing to celebrate her birthday.
Sgt. Mark Roberts says police identified the woman as Kwi Sun
Emery, of Huntsville. Authorities say she was sitting on the tracks
at the crossing behind Lee High School between the Oakwood Avenue
and Quietdale Drive crossings.
Roberts says the train conductor noticed the woman on the tracks
and blew the train's whistle twice, but could not stop in time.
Emery was pronounced dead at the scene. Roberts says Emery would
have been 52 on her birthday this Wednesday.
