MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Democratic state Sen. Jim Preuitt of
Talladega has switched parties for his re-election bid.
State Republican Party spokesman Philip Bryan says Preuitt
qualified with the party Friday. Preuitt has been at odds with the
Senate's Democratic leadership in recent years.
In other legislative changes, Bryan says Republican state Sen.
Charles Bishop decided to leave his Senate seat to run against
House Majority Leader Ken Guin of Carbon Hill.
