5:00- I just sat through the John Tyson presser in response to Troy Kings and he said that HE is still the commander of the task force.

Tyson said that Gov. Riley told him that he was the leader and to proceed with business.

Tyson said that King has no right to remove him from his role and that he is corrupt.

Tyson said that King is playing into the hands of the casino bosses and is corrupting Alabama.

Tyson also said that King would further delay the rule of law
and the casinos would open and take money from hard working Alabama citizens without penalty.
3:00- The task force was started to end illegal gambling and it has not been easy. Troy Kings says that electronic bingo is not defined by the supreme court and people of Alabama are frustrated and confused. After 448 days of the task force nothing has changed. The actions of the task force has been trouble and has not worked.

Troy King has tried and waited 14 months to see if something with the task force will change and now he and Gov. Riley have agreed to take a new course of action.

King has assumed control of the task force. He says that the decisions should be made in court and not in midnight raids.

John Tyson has been given 24 hours to turn over all evidence obtained in the last 14 months.

Troy King says once a rule has been obtained by the courts, he will strictly enforce the rule of law.

He plans to get a declatatory judgment in the counties where bingo is the biggest issue. That is the only way to get the rule of law answered.

He plans to start in the district court and work all the way to the supreme court to get his answer.

He does not plan to conduct any raids in order to get his answer.

Troy King says what he is really doing is firing John Tyson

King had hired Doug McGelvey to lead his investigation.

Troy King is going to use the evidence already gathered by the task force to form his opinoin and to be used in court. He is taking the position that gaming in Alabama is illegal.

If the evidence doesn't support his case, he will gather his own information and evidence to be used in court. He however, will not conduct evidence through raids. He wants to handle the matter in a civil court and not through midnight raids.

Each county has its own amendment and each county will have to pass the 6 point test issued by the supreme court.

2:58- We are in place in the attorney general's meeting room. There are 15 cameras here and roughly 40 total people in here awaiting what Troy King is going to say.

2:20- We are pulling into Mongtomery. The press conference will be streamed here on Tim will be live at 5 and 6 with live reports and analysis of the speech. I will also be blogging away with what is going on.

1:56- Senator Roger Bedford recently had his bingo legislation killed when he introduced a bingo bill several weeks ago. Sen. Bedford plans to re-enter legislation this week to get a definite ruling on what is considered bingo in Alabama. He hopes he can get 21 votes to bring it up for debate because the senate only has 10 meeting days left this session. Click here for the article on Roger Bedford.

1:50- We had to stop in Troy and get gas because News 4's John Laberge didn't put gas in the car and left us with a quarter of a tank to get to Montgomery. Thanks John!

12:45- Tim and I are on the road to Montgomery for Troy King's press conference regarding the Gambling Task Force.

Rumors are flying around that King will take over the task force and relieve John Tyson of his duties. John Tyson also said that he feels that King will take over but if he does, he will immediately appeal the move to the Alabama Supreme Court. Tyson, Troy King is the elected attorney general not you...why is it every time something gets filed in court you run to the Supreme Court? You have not charged anyone with illegal gambling...but you have tried to bully all involved...why don't you just let the courts do their jobs...hope the job that Riley promised you is worth what you have done for your reputation...because your word is crap with the people of need to collect your marbles and stay in Mobile you think you still remember how to do the job of the Mobile District Attorney? or have you been running around too much and got too big of a head? thanks for wasting all our tax dollars...just think of all the free time you will have now not flying around in our tax dollar plane...have a nice suck Tyson...

I wonder if Troy King was the one who suggested that Ronnie Gilley use Bingo as the catalyst for his business? Gilley NEVER said who it was and the biased WTVY reportery Skylar Zwick never pressed him on the issue either. She just accepted anything he said as true.
