GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A 64-year-old Guntersville pediatrician has pleaded guilty in a Birmingham federal court to possessing child pornography stemming from pictures he had of a teenage girl who was his patient.
In a hearing before the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners in February 2009, Michael Roy Sharpe admitted to having sext a 15-year-old girl who had been his patient.
Sharpe allowed board members to view his phone, which contained
sexually explicit text messages from the girl and pornographic images of her.
No sentencing date has been set.
Sharpe surrendered his medical license, board records show.
Authorities say the relationship started when the girl was 15.
