HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Huntsville middle school teacher has
been arrested and charged with marijuana trafficking.
Huntsville television station WHNT reports that 35-year-old
Ronald Smith was arrested in a drug raid Thursday night. It was not
immediately known if either man had a lawyer Sunday.
A Huntsville City Schools spokesman confirms that Smith is an
8th grade social studies teacher at Westlawn Middle School. He is
on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Madison-Morgan County Strategic Counter Drug Team arrested
Smith and 33-year-old Naeem Hasan Sands at a home in north
Huntsville. The raid resulted in the recovery of about 20 pounds of
marijuana, weapons and drug money.
