Dogfighting Suspect Found Dead

TOWN CREEK, Ala. (AP) - Officials in Lawrence County say the
body of a man who disappeared during a dogfighting raid in December
has been found.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell says the body of
30-year-old Justin Fuqua of Leighton was discovered Sunday on the
shoreline of Town Creek at Doublehead Resort.

The TimesDaily reports Mitchell said an autopsy will be
performed and his department has asked the Alabama Bureau of
Investigation to investigate, because the sheriff's office was
involved in the raid.

Nine people were arrested Dec. 19 after authorities got
information from the Limestone County Sheriff's Office of a
possible dog fight outside of Town Creek.

The sheriff said agents found an arena with lights. Two pit
bulldogs were fighting inside.
