Pastor Arrested After Disrupting the Eviction of His Church

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Birmingham minister has been arrested
and charged with disorderly conduct after police say he disrupted
efforts to evict his church from the building members had been
using for years.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Randy
Christian says Walking on Water Christian Church Pastor Karnie
Smith barged in and disrupted the transfer of the property to the
owners Monday morning.

The church was being evicted from a former movie theater members
had long used for services.

Records show a foreclosure was completed on the building in
September 2007 after the church defaulted on payments. The church
then reached a lease agreement but fell behind on payments.
