Candidates busy in Alabama governor's race

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Republican candidate for governor, Greenville businessman Tim James, is planning a major announcement in Montgomery.

James has a news conference scheduled at noon Monday to release what he calls a six-point plan to save taxpayers' dollars.

State Treasurer Kay Ivey had planned a news conference for 1:30 p.m. Monday in Montgomery to announce her plans for a "people's audit" of state government, but she has postponed it due to scheduling problems.

Another GOP candidate, state Rep. Robert Bentley, visited Birmingham on Monday to promote his proposals for reducing unemployment.
